Course Highlights

If you want to know what people actually do with all that math they learn, then you can become an applied mathematician. Use the power of math to describe, model and solve problems in the real world, using high-performance computing.

Career Opportunities

From the GPS navigation system that maps a destination within seconds to the text you send on your cell phone, inventions from applied science abound and have permanently changed society. Applied science is basically putting scientific knowledge to practical use. Graduates of associate degree programs in applied science find jobs as technicians, drafters and engineers. They also land jobs in health care as therapists and technicians.

Course Overview

The Applied Mathematics program in the Faculty of Science includes a range of courses from mathematics, statistics, computing and physics. Applied mathematics traditionally consists of areas of mathematics which are closely related to the physical sciences and engineering, but nowadays sophisticated mathematical tools are used across many disciplines, and applied mathematics has become increasingly computationally oriented. I want to find another Bachelor Course The Department of Mathematics offers an applied mathematics major program. Students interested in applied mathematics may also wish to consider the joint honours program in mathematics and computer science, and the mathematical physics honours program, both of which include a substantial number of applied mathematics courses.
